The virtual slides found on this site are run using a self-signed applet. New versions of Java automatically block unsigned and self-signed applets, therefore VM platform may be difficult to set-up. Step-by-Step instructions are below.


Current VM Set-UP


Firefox 41.02 on the PC:
1.) Please update to Java 8 (Update 66)
2.) From Start > Programs > Java > Configure Java
3.) Security > Add/ edit or a URL from the list, click Edit Exception List
4.) Add: a. http://webslide.med.wayne.edu/ b. http://medslide.med.wayne.edu/
5.) Click Ok to Save 6.) Click Continue on the Security Dialogue box
7.) Save, exit and refresh Firefox browser
8.) GO TO: http://webslide.med.wayne.edu/

IE 9 through 11 on the PC
1.) Please update to Java 8 (Update 65)
2.) From Start > Programs > Java > Configure Java
3.) Security > Add/ edit or a URL from the list, click Edit Site List
4.) Add: a. http://webslide.med.wayne.edu/ b. http://medslide.med.wayne.edu/
5.) Click Ok to Save
6.) Click Continue on the Security Dialogue box
7.) Save, exit and refresh browser
8.) From IE 9-through 11 go to site http://webslide.med.wayne.edu/
9.) YOU WILL SEE DIALOGE BOX BELOW CLICK “RUN”


ON the MAC:

Chrome will not work. It is a Browser limitation. Plugins that use NPAPI, including Silverlight, Java, and Unity no longer work in Chrome. If you want to use a website that uses an NPAPI and or other plugins, you’ll need to use a different web browser.

Firebox does work. You will just need to update your Browser security settings.
Tested with Firefox 41 with Java 8

1.) Click on the apple in left corner
2.) Select System Preferences
3.) Select Java
4.) Select Security
5.) From the Security Exception Site
6.) Select Edit Site Llist
Add the two sites below

http://medslide.med.wayne.edu/
6.) ADD > OK
7.)Refresh Firefox browser
8.) GO TO: http://webslide.med.wayne.edu/
8.) Click Run or OK is promted
